感圧・感熱記録材料

 無色染料(発色剤)の一種であるフルオラン化合物は,酸(顕色剤)と反応し,下式に示すように開環して発色します。この反応は可逆的で,アルカリ性条件下で元の無色染料に戻ります。

 感圧,感熱記録システムは,この発色機構を応用したもので,発色剤,顕色剤,増感剤などの材料が巧みに組み合わされています。感圧記録では,発色剤を内包したカプセルを加圧により破壊し,支持体に塗布した顕色剤と発色剤を接触させることにより発色させます。感熱記録では,支持体上に分散させた発色剤,顕色剤を熱により溶融,接触させることにより発色させます。また,高感度化のために低融点の増感剤が添加されています。最近では,繰り返しの書込み・消去が可能なリライタブル記録ペーパーといった分野での開発が進み,定期券やプリペイカードなどで実用化されています。様々な酸発生方法とこの発色機構を組み合わせることにより,新規な利用分野の開発が期待される材料です。
